Office Seating - Lifetime Warranty - What Exactly Does That Mean?

When purchasing office chairs there are many factors to review to make a proper and informed purchase.  Most people start with the price and then look at the chair features- ergonomics, fabric color options and the comfort of the chair. All of these combined are obvious factors leading to an office seating purchase decision.

With that said, there is one very important item is often overlooked - the warranty. The warranty offered by the manufacturer can tell you a great deal about the integrity of the chair. Most quality office seating manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty; however, what exactly does that mean? It is advisable to read the fine print regarding a lifetime warranty and get the warranty in writing. A lifetime warranty should include the following:

 1. All moving and mechanical parts such as mechanism, pneumatic height lift, casters and the arms that should move up and down    and in and out.

 2. Structural components such as the base, seat and back wood. Poor quality bases can actually crack causing the user to fall from the chair.

3. Minimum of 5 years on the fabric and foam. Normal wear and tear should not be confused with a product failure. Fabric and foam will deteriorate over time. That is inevitable. Foam will start to break down from the moment it is used. The question is how long will it take to break down; 6 months or 6 years. The same is true with fabric.  There are several rules to follow to be sure your chair has a minimum of 2 lb density foam and your fabric has a minimum of 100,000 double rubs.

4.  Guarantee a weight capacity up to 250 lb. That is basic standard is the commercial office seating industry.

5.  Chairs should meet Ansi-Bifma test performance standards. This is an agency that sets minimum requirements for office seating.

Additionally, a lifetime warranty will not cover abuse or damage from alterations made to the office chair. Chairs that required 24/7 or big and tall applications need to carry separate warranties that address those requirements. A quality office chair should not require the customer to purchase an extended warranty. Just the notion itself puts in question the integrity of the product. Most warranties will only apply to the original purchaser and are not transferable.  Since a solid warranty usually means a quality product, a direct result is safety. People can and do get hurt in chairs. Companies should protect themselves against the possible injury liability cause by an office chair by purchasing a quality product made by a quality manufacturer. There is a tremendous amount of office seating and office seating components being manufactured in China today. Often these chairs and components are manufactured with the mindset of cost first and quality second. It is more important than ever to get a solid warranty from a reputable manufacturer to avoid problems.  The age old adage "you get what you pay for" is very true with office seating. A quality office chair should outlive its required use.

Office Seatings

Every now and then you take stock of your office furnishings. Some equipment need repairs, a few desks have to be replaced, that room requires a painting and so forth. However the seating is usually accepted as being ok, because they aren't torn, they still swivel and the wheels move. This thought although common is very wrong. What should also be examined on the office chair, are the following points. What is the condition of the foam, Is this the proper height required, Does it offer lumbar support, Do the arms adjust to the position needed for using the keyboard.?

Another very important aspect to keep in mind, when evaluating your office environment. The chairs that were purchased way back, do not have the important options that are available today. Also the person using the chair is not the same one as the original user. Each person's body needs support, and every one is unique at which point their body requires the support. A person that is big and tall, will not be comfortable using a chair that was used by an average sized individual.

A good office chair, whether for the executive or the manager or Task chair, with the proper adjustments can now be gotten at very affordable pricing. By procuring comfortable seating for the people in your organization, you will gain eventually. They will be more productive workers. There will be less trips to the coffee machines. And possibly less sick leave. Most importantly you will have a happy work force.

Ergonomic Seat Pads - Commuter Comfort

The e number of people who spend over tow hours a day commuting to and from their jobs has grown dramatically over the past two decades, due to a mass exodus from city dwelling to homes in the suburbs. Every major urban area has thousands of people on the roads during the morning and evening rush hours, and many of the drivers returning home at night have just spent eight or more hours sitting at a desk or computer workstation.

So much sitting at work followed by an hour or more of sitting behind the wheel is simply unnatural and can lead to significant health issues, but one way to alleviate the problems of the commute is to equip your car with ergonomic seat pads.

Benefits Of An Ergonomic Seat Pad

Ergonomic seat pads allow body weight to be evenly distributed, reducing excessive pressure on your weight-bearing joints. Research has indicated that the design of most car seats causes pressure points, which can become uncomfortable after you have been sitting for a while. A leather seat, in particular, will warm from the heat of your body and can become even more uncomfortable than a fabric one.

If you find yourself faced with the stop-and-go of rush hour traffic for a couple of hours each day, you will more than likely experience the aftereffects as sore muscles and aching bones. There are even some experts who suggest that the simple discomfort associated with long hours in traffic can be enough of a driver distraction that it leads to accidents. Ergonomic seat pads will eliminate much of that discomfort, and possibly save you from the serious injury of a road accident.

Ergonomic Seat Pad Features

Look for ergonomic seat pads constructed of memory foam or gel, which will mold itself to your bodily contours as it warms from your body heat. This malleability is what allows the ergonomic seat pad to compensate for the poor design of your car seat, and provide you complete support. Just make sure the ergonomic seat pads you purchase are guaranteed to hold up under pressure.

When you are driving, you will often need to accelerate or slow quickly and the sudden changes in speed may put undue pressure on ergonomic seat pads. Having poorly made ergonomic seat pads begin to leak in the middle of you commute will simply make a mess of your car and your clothes, in addition to leaving you with no support.

Price

A set of quality ergonomic seat pads for your automobile will cost under a hundred dollars, and may be available from your car dealer. You can also do a search for ergonomic seat pads online, but be sure to read reviews of the ergonomic seat pads which you are considering before making an actual purchase.
